More than 20,000 Ohio citizens with developmental disabilities are on waiting lists for residential services. Due to funding, rules and regulations and community issues it may take two years or more to open one home.
Choices In Community Living (CICL) provides homes and other services to adults with developmental disabilities in Montgomery, Clark, Madison and Preble Counties.
To be eligible for CICL services, individuals must be listed/registered on residential and other waiting lists maintained by local County Boards of Developmental Disabilities. PLACEMENTS ARE MADE BY THE COUNTY BOARD IN THE COUNTY WHERE THE PROSPECTIVE CLIENT RESIDES.
As openings become available in CICL homes or homes operated by other agencies in the community, the individual seeking placement and/or services may choose from among those openings (Self-Determination.)
People with developmental disabilities and their families and caregivers are urged to contact their local county board at the earliest possible time to be included on the Residential and other Waiting Lists. Due to the number of people needing residential and other services and the limited number of openings available at any point in time, it is critically important for individuals to be included on the waiting lists, even if they are not looking for immediate services.
