Diana and Paul have been friends for more than 12 years.
The people served by Choices In Community Living and Resident Home Association have good homes. They are surrounded by nurturing staff. Some have family members they visit on a regular basis. Others have no family members and are alone, especially on those most important days like birthdays and holidays.
What too many of them don't have is a friend. When you say yes to becoming a Friend By Choice you say yes to becoming a friend and to getting a friend.
Our Friend By Choice program will match you with an individual who has been waiting for a friend. We will match your interests and your geographic area with his/her interests and geographic area. We will provide you training and ongoing support.
To become a Friend By Choice:
Following your initial "getting to know you" time, you and your friend can do as all friends do - call each other, make plans with each other, go to dinner, a movie, shopping (whatever your interests are) and develop your friendship.
Many of our Friend By Choice volunteers have called their decision to get involved one of the best things they have ever done, resulting in ongoing friendships that have changed their lives for the better.
