"Everything I do I do it for you." At Partners For Community Living it's more than lyrics from a Bryan Adams song. It's our philosophy - it's our promise! Everything we do is for people with developmental/intellectual disabilities, assuring their present and insuring their future.
Sticks and stones --- Erase the 'R' word. Join us in a national effort and commitment to eliminate the use or retarded/retardation from our vocabulary, because words really do hurt. Ohio has passed legislation to eliminate the word from state and local organizations, such as the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Our work as individuals and as a nation must continue in erasing the stigma and stereotypes that have been far too long associated with the 'R' word.
Why Partners For Community Living
Through Partners, Choices In Community Living and Resident Home Association provide more cost efficient and effective services for both agencies, such as our shared website and shared database. We provide services together that neither agency could afford to provide on our own, such as our newsletters, volunteer program, fundraising, endowment and more. Our staff team together for the mutual benefit of the people we serve. We share resources, training, and professional expertise/knowledge.
We strengthen our agencies through our shared fundraising, grant writing, donor development and in building our Partners Endowment through The Dayton Foundation, in conjunction with our John W. Pratt Society.
We serve our agencies through community partnerships, advocacy, marketing and education, including our monthly public access television program on DATV/CATV/Time Warner Cable, as well as through our person-centered newsletters and other publications (go to our News link for our most recent newsletters.)
Partners For Community Living serves as the statewide coordinator and executive producer of the audio documentary, Lest We Forget:Spoken Histories (in conjunction with Jeff Moyer: Music from the Heart); and the award-winning film documentary, Lest We Forget:Silent Voices, with filmmaker Mark Lyons.
