QUESTION: Will my donation make a difference?
ANSWER: EVERY donation adds to the quality of life of the people we serve!!!!
The primary funding source for Choices In Community Living and Resident Home Association is Medicaid. Medicaid funds are restricted in how we may use them, primarily to provide direct services to clients/residents by our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs.)
That means that there is often little or no money for the things that most of us take for granted. That means new clothing when a new person comes to us with only the clothes on her back. It translates to the replacement of worn out furniture or curtains on windows or pots and pans in kitchens. It means new eyeglasses when the old pair is lost or broken, new wheelchairs and walkers and other medical needs.
It means being able to say good-by with dignity when we lose someone, someone who has no life insurance because of the label of his/her disability, someone who has only us to assure that there is dignity in death, just as there was in life.
It means that we have accessible vans. It means we have computers and software and other technology to make us more efficient and effective so that we can place the focus where it needs to be - ON THE PEOPLE WE SERVE!
Your donations help us provide those personal items like clothing and furniture through our Wish Lists. They help us provide events and activities like our Art & Soul exhibit, art classes, Bingo, picnics, bowling, going to the movies or out to eat at a favorite restaurant. It can mean maintaining and building our volunteer program that provides more than 5000 hours of volunteer service in support of our clients/residents.
